The Birkenstock Soft Footbed

The Birkenstock Soft Footbed brings an extra layer of cushioned comfort to the Classic Footbed. Like the Classic, natural latex is used to bind the cork and create the contoured foundation (2), two layers of jute provide flexibility and durability (1,3), and suede lining offers breathability and comfort (4). However, the Soft Footbed ups the ante with an extra later of super soft foam cushioning (5), making it a little cosier and cushier than its Classic counterpart.

Softness of Suede

Suede leather uppers are the perfect solution if you're after a soft, comfortable and relaxed finish in both look and feel. Breathable and flexible, suede provides the most give out of all the Birkenstock uppers, quickly adapting to your foot shape and movement. The natural finish will develop an individual patina as it ages and wears, though can be kept clean with a suede brush or suede conditioner.

Sustainably Cork

The Birkenstock cork footbed is legendary, not only for its comfort and support, though also for its sustainability. The cork is responsibly sourced from the outer layer of the cork oak tree. Sections of the thick bark are carefully removed without harming the tree, allowing it to regenerate and be re-harvested every 7-9 years. A single cork oak tree can produce 100 - 200 kg of cork in its lifetime!
