This Soft Footbed version adds an extra layer of latex cushioning for a softer, more comfortable feel from day one. The classic two-strap design makes it an easy styling win, while the footbed continues to soften and mould to the shape of your foot over time. The Arizona is our most popular style for both men and women. It is designed to provide both support and stability. In terms of length, there needs to be at least 5mm of space in the front and back- you dont want to be sitting right back on the heel or for your toes to be touching the top edge of the shoe. The straps are key to making sure the shoe is correctly fitted- it may seem way too big if they are even slightly too loose as your foot will either want to go all the way forward or sit further back. Tighten the straps so that they are secure but not placing too much pressure on your foot. You should be able to place two fingers under the straps.

With width there are regular and narrow options- the majority of people (80-90% of Australians) are a regular fit. If you think you may be a narrow make sure to undo all the straps to see how your foot is sitting in the footbed, if your foot is sitting on top on the side of the footbed in any spot you will better suited to a regular fit. If you are a narrow, you may need to consider going up a size. Depending on how often you are wearing your Birkenstocks, it can take up to 2 weeks for your foot to fully mould into the cork. This break in process may feel odd or even slightly painful- please remember that it will soften up once broken in. The juice is worth the squeeze.
