Too wide despite instore fit

I went in store and was fitted for the shoes I bought online. I thought they were too wide and queried the assistant who said they were right. Because they weren’t in stock I ordered them online. They are too wide but I tried to get used to them, so now that I’ve worn them a few times I can’t return them. I feel hugely disappointed!
