Suede Leather

Suede leather uppers are the perfect solution if you're after a soft, comfortable and relaxed finish in both look and feel. Breathable and flexible, suede provides the most give out of all the Birkenstock uppers, quickly adapting to your foot shape and movement. The natural finish will develop an individual patina as it ages and wears, though can be kept clean with a suede brush or suede conditioner.

Sustainable Cork

The Birkenstock cork footbed is legendary, not only for its comfort and support, though also for its sustainability. The cork is responsibly sourced from the outer layer of the cork oak tree. Sections of the thick bark are carefully removed without harming the tree, allowing it to regenerate and be re-harvested every 7-9 years. A single cork oak tree can produce 100 - 200 kg of cork in its lifetime!

Footbed Features

The anatomical design of the Birkenstock footbed follows the natural contours of your feet to strengthen, support, activate, stabilise and align. Boasting features such as a raised footbed edge, toe grip bar, arch support (including transverse, metatarsal, interior and exterior longitudinal arch support), heel mould, deep heel cup, and plenty of toe room, it's no wonder the humble Birk is coveted the world over.

Most Birkenstock styles are available in Regular or Narrow Width. The Narrow fits Narrow feet. The Regular fits Regular to Wider width feet. About 80% of the population are suited to the Regular fit. If you already own a pair of Birkenstocks or are trying them on in store - check out the little foot symbol on the footbed of the shoe (between the arch and heel) or on the shoe box. If the foot is coloured in, it is a Narrow (N). If it is just an outline of a foot, it is a Regular (R).
